All Settled In

Here we are! We have been in our new home for a month now! It’s hard to believe that it’s already been that long. I can’t even begin to tell you just how beautiful it is here. It’s cool how being in a new place you are reminded of how beautiful God’s creation is. After you have been in the same place for so long, you tend to forget about the little things that once captivated you so much. It has been amazing to feel so welcomed into this beautiful city. Every time I walk the halls of the house or sit on the porch enjoying the cool air, I still can’t believe that God chose us to serve here.  We have gotten to visit Lake Michigan, which is just beautiful, visit Chicago, and of course drove 45 minutes to find the nearest Chick Fil A!

A few things I’ve learned about living in the North so far:

1. AC in houses isn’t really a thing here- you just open up your windows at night (huge change from Texas!!),

2. It’s a lot more humid on some days than I thought it would be. I guess that would be from living next to a giant lake.

3. Huge trees and open fields do actually exist- unlike in the metropolitan area of DFW.

4. The weather has been absolutely beautiful!! The leaves are already changing, the nights are cool, and you need a jacket at times.

Obviously we have more to learn about the North come winter, but it has all been amazing so far. We have slowly been taking on different work tasks as the weeks have progressed. Halton is working on details with The Emerging Sound and promoting registration. I have been taking care of guests whenever they come to visit and making sure the house is in order for different events. I absolutely love that I get to work alongside Halton everyday and have Hudson with me. Some days are tough parenting wise, but I know these are such foundational moments, and I am thankful that Halton and I get to be the ones to teach and mold with Hudson each day.

God has continued to be so faithful and gracious to us, as He always is. He is growing us as a family, growing our marriage, and teaching us each new things daily. We have already seen God work miracles in people’s lives and I am reminded daily that we are not to live for the here and now, which is so often what I do, but to live with an eternal perspective and build up His Kingdom. It’s easy for me to get caught up in my own day-to-day abilities. It’s what I see, what I know, it’s easy. But what I also know is that God is the one who is shaping me and molding me and creating the path before me. All of the kingdoms I am building for myself will perish, but His kingdom is forever and that’s the Kingdom I want to serve, not my own.

We are so exited to get to see our families this next month! We are headed to Disney World with both of our families and it will be Hudson’s first airplane ride! Then we will be in Dallas for a few weeks shooting some weddings and other various photo sessions. We will head back to Indiana at the end of October to help with final preparations of a big event that is being hosted by People & Songs called Turn Up The Lights!

We would love for you to be in prayer for us over this next month as we will have lots of traveling. Please pray for the Turn Up The Lights event that will be happening in November as we want to see His Kingdom shine! Thanks for following along with us and please let us know if there is anything we can be praying for you about! Enjoy a few of our pictures from our time so far in Indiana:

POST UPDATE OCT 2018: We have moved back to our home state, Texas! We are continuing to follow God’s calling on our life and are excited to be back where it all began.
